Toronto FC vs DC United Betting Tips

Eastern Conference leaders Toronto FC will take on bottom club DC United in Major League Soccer on Saturday night.

The Canadian-based franchise have lost just twice in their opening 15 games of the season, and this has propelled them to the top of the league standings. On the other hand, DC United have suffered the exact opposite with 10 defeats in 14 outings. The game could be termed as a one-sided encounter on paper, but Toronto recently faced a 3-0 thumping at the hands of New England, who are seventh in the table.

Backed with several international stars, Toronto have the perfect mix of experience and youth as they look to lift the MLS Cup, which they lost on penalties to Seattle Sounders last season. Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco are the top scorers with six goals, while the club could bank on Michael Brady to put in a performance on the night. The club have enjoyed good form at home with their last league loss coming at the hands of Saturday’s opponents DC United in October last year.

Meanwhile, DC United come off a 4-1 win Over Christos FC in the fourth round of the US Open Cup. The victory will provided a much-needed boost to the team which has won just one of the last four league outings. The Washington-based club do not have a potent goalscorer in their ranks and they could depend on young midfielder Luciano Acosta, who leads the scoring charts with three.

Odds are heavily stacked against DC United, but they could be backed to clinch all three points at 6/1 with hosts Toronto at 1/2. Giovinco and Altidore are due to pair up for the first time in a month and a half after the former recover from injury. The Italy international has the best chance of scoring anytime at 20/21.
